The Thursday night Beginners’ class shows encouraging signs of progress as the members work on their forehand and backhand skills. Here are a couple of videos of a recent training session.

Opportunities to play table tennis

The club’s members are a hugely friendly and enthusiastic bunch that range from 9 to 80, and accommodate all levels of play, from beginners to former internationalist. Coaches are UKCC qualified and hold disclosure certificates for working with children and vulnerable adults.

Firstly, on Friday 27 November, the club is opening it’s doors for a ‘TT taster’ session as part of the town’s St Andrews day celebrations. The event is featured on the BBC’s Get Inspired website at General fun play will take place from 6pm to 7.15pm, after which an informal open tournament (probably handicapped) will be held with the winner being awarded the club’s Celebrate Legacy Shield. The evening will be rounded off with a modest buffet provided by the club. All welcome – and it’s free. You can just turn up on the night but, preferably, contact or 07790 924698 to let us know you intend to come.

There are also a few spaces available for TT newcomers/returners at the club’s informal adult beginner session that takes place on Thursdays from 6pm to 7:30pm at Kilrymont community use facility (Madras College gym). This session is run by former internationalist Elaine Forbes and, while both males and females are welcome, it has proved very popular with the ladies. Just turn up any night you fancy.

Finally, the youth coaching session also has several vacancies for aspiring youngsters. The current squad are around 9-13 years of age and have shown great progress since the start of the season. Any interested youngster or parent should contact our Head Coach, Howard Lee at or pop in during one of the sessions.
