GROVE TROPHY

The Grove Trophy is named in honour of Tim Grove, founding member, former kids coach, club stalwart and honorary lifetime member. Tim was a strong player who won the prestigious Corder Trophy for the leading performance in the Dundee & District League during his first season in 1977/78. He served as team and club secretary in St Andrews as well as a member of the Executive Committee of the Dundee Association.

Instituted in 2006, the Grove trophy is awarded every spring to the winner of the tournament for the kids’ coaching group. The format of the competition has varied over the years. Originally the youngsters were divided into two groups and the winners of each group competed in the final. In more recent years, a round robin (all play all) format has been used with each win contributing to the final total.

The early years were dominated by the forehand and backhand top spins of Tim Woollins which led him to victory on five occasions. Here is the complete list of winners:
